In celebration of Women’s History Month, we’d like to highlight one of the many incredible women who have contributed to the success of Automatic Leasing Service.
Kathy Green has worn many hats during her 24 years with Automatic, creating several ingenious systems to help her juggle it all. She joined our team in 1995 working alongside her brother in-law Jim Carreras and nephew Scott Carreras in a shared one-room office.
While the responsibility of counting money (mostly coins!) and answering the phone at the same time would have been a daunting task for most, Kathy accepted the challenge and mastered it. “Every time the phone rang, I would lose track of what I had counted and have to start all over again.” So, Kathy created the Cup System – a process of separating coins into cups as she counted. That way, she could seamlessly respond to customers’ needs and accurately count all of the money despite interruptions. Fortunately, with the introduction of card and mobile payment solutions, Kathy has retired the Cup System for counting coins.
Kathy has also managed the billing for decades. Her method has come a long way since her original Basket System in 1995, in which Jim would deposit completed delivery paperwork in a woven basket for Kathy to organize and process. In that era, Kathy completed the billing with a huge old dot matrix printer. Today, Kathy manages hundreds of accounts using Automatic’s proprietary software.
In addition to all of the technological changes Kathy has witnessed at Automatic over the years, another welcome and successful change has been the addition of five other amazing women to the office team, all of whom have been inspired by Kathy’s proven ability as a one-woman show!
As we celebrate Women’s History Month, we also proudly celebrate the growth of our company and the journey we have shared with our own phenomenal women like Kathy.
